Independent concept artist based in London, UK, creating concept and visual development for design studios, VFX, post-production and film.
I come from a background in graphic design, TV branding and directing, which, combined with strong drawing skills, gives my concept work a unique edge. This allows me to bring a lot of creative input, as well as visualise, design, and shape initial briefs into fully formed visual narratives.
My work ranges from broad explorations to detailed development - including concept boards, character design, sketches and line-ups, motion principles, and narrative & sequence visualization boards (not traditional storyboarding). My style is expressive and dynamic: I like using line drawing, brushed shading, and colour washes to add energy and show the artistic search behind each idea.
A BIT OF HISTORY:
After completing a master’s degree in graphic design at Olivier de Serres in Paris and Middlesex University in London, I began my career at the London design agency Hobbins-Sides, working on title sequences and branding for BBC, C4, ITV, Sci-Fi, Discovery, Artsworld, NOW TV, and more. I went on to design and direct idents for FoxKids Channel Europe and the live-action BMI International in-flight branding before moving into independent work in the early 2000s.
As a freelancer, I contributed to high-profile brand identities including Channel 4, ITV, Baraem, Disney Channel’s Cinemagic, and the UEFA South Africa World Cup. In 2012, I worked alongside Matthew Rudd on the 2013 ITV rebrand, developing the logo design and On-Screen Presentation, also creating the Colour Picking principle used across the channel’s idents and branding.
Over the last decade, my focus has shifted toward concept art and visual development. I collaborate at the earliest stages of projects, working closely with directors, motion design creative directors, and CGI teams at studios such as weareseventeen, Found, Future Deluxe, Inertia, Builder’s Club, Optical Arts, The Mill, Time Based Arts, 1920, Pulse Films, Framestore, and more.
Notable projects include concept work on Framestore’s Tooned 50 series for McLaren, Time Based Arts’ Honda Dream Makers campaign (which earned me a Gold British Arrow in 2018), and Puse Films' 'Wonderful Everyday' campaign for IKEA, where I designed the star robot characters, working with director Ninian Doff and production designer David Lee. Most recently, I collaborated again with David Lee on the Disney+/Amazon Prime/AMC series Nautilus (2024), designing the iconic Nautilus submarine and numerous other key objects, sets and environments featured on the show.
